Drake Plastics has extended the capability of their proprietary process to deliver 6.187” OD X 4.5” ID (152.4 X 114.3) Seamless Tube®. The new size has been produced in Glass Reinforced Torlon 5030 and enables two new applications in the petrochemical industry. It is in stock at our Cypress, TX factory.  

Drake has developed and now offers 1.25” thick Torlon Plate 12” wide in three popular Torlon grades: 4203, 4301 and 5030. 4203 is pictured.  

Drake Plastics stocks the widest range of Victrex® HT™ shapes. Drake produced Victrex® HT™ can be certified to Schlumberger Specification 100137282. Rod sizes range from .125″ (3.2 MM) to 4.0″ (102 MM) and selective plate sizes are also available.  

The current extrusion plant is getting an extra 2,500 SF (232.26 m2) to provide room for post cure and new annealing ovens. In preparation for future growth, a 7,500 SF (696.77 m2) building is also being erected.

Torlon 4203 ¼”-20 Screws are used to fasten a composite housing containing radar equipment to an aluminum skinned aircraft. Thirty-six (36) Torlon screws are used to mount the composite housing. Metallic fasteners interfered with the signal. The application required a strong, EMI/RFI transparent material. Customer testing of the screws revealed they carry tensile loads 446 lbs and show strength of 412 lbs. Additionally, Torlon is non-corroding and has high creep resistance. Injection molding was selected for production economics. Threads are specially designed with radiuses in the root to maximize strength and toughness.
